WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I SUBMIT A PAPER?
After the submission phase closes, papers are reviewed and assessed by a panel. The panel will identify the four strongest papers to advance to the final round.
Finalist teams will then be able to revise and elaborate their proposals with a more liberal word count (8,000-word limit) and submit a final paper prior to the Final Competition. They must also prepare an oral presentation and visual guide (if desired) for the final competition.
Note, the Final competition judges will not see submissions from the first round. They will see only the team’s Final submissions.
How & when do finalists submit their final paper and presentation?
The Final Competition consists of an oral presentation of teams’ arguments to a panel of judges. Judges will have access to teams’ final proposals prior to the presentation. Teams may use visual aids during this presentation.
Finalist teams must submit their final papers and any digital visual aids to the Challenge Lead by November 2, 2017. Teams will be responsible for bringing any physical visual aids with them to CSAW.
WHAT IS THE STRUCTURE OF THE FINAL PRESENTATION?
Finalist teams will receive more information about the final presentation after selection. The presentation will last thirty minutes and finalists should expect to devote half of that time to answering judges’ questions.
